About: Walter Mikac and a small group of volunteers set up The Alannah and Madeline Foundation in memory of his daughters, Alannah and Madeline, aged six and three, who were tragically killed with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur, Tasmania, on 28 April 1996. His desire to create something positive from devastation has led to extraordinary outcomes, including successfully lobbying for the then Prime Minister, John Howard, to reform our national gun laws. As Foundation Patron of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, Walter is thrilled to partner with Fiona Slater, a self-taught artist based in Bayside Victoria. Fiona’s vibrant interpretation of nature is depicted through her works. She is inspired by children’s curiosity and will work with Walter to create a special roo supporting all children impacted by violence and bullying.
